The lowest temperature that any movement of the sample is observed under the specific standard conditions, is called pour point. Flow characteristics, such as pour point and cloud point, can be important for lubricating oil systems, fuel systems, and piping system operation.
In this test method which is applied on Parsian Technology device, the sample is charged in standard glass jar and heated initially. Next, the sample is cooled under certain conditions. In next step, the fluidity of the sample is checked by bending the glass jar every 3 ℃. As mentioned, the pour point will be reported as the lowest temperature that the sample is still fluid.
