The tendency of oil products to foam, can cause major and fundamental problems in some devices such as: high-speed gearing, high-volume pumping, and etc. So this test method which is applied on Parsian Technology device, is a useful method for investigating and determining of foaming characteristic of lubricating oil at 24 ℃ and 93.5 ℃ experimentally.
In this method (ASTM D892), initially airflow with the constant rate and constant temperature (24 ℃) is blown in specific sample for 5 minutes. Then, it takes 10 minutes to settle down. Afterward, the volume of foam is written after both time intervals. All of the above is repeated at 93 ℃ in separate glass container and when the foam is disappeared completely, the test is done in 24 ℃ again.
